Covid-19 silences a melodious tune, Wajid Khan of Sajid-Wajid duo

B-town mourns over the death of noted music director Wajid Khan of the famous Sajid-Wajid duo of the Hindi film industry.

Mumbai: 42 years old Wajid Khan passed away here today in a Mumbai hospital after tested Covid-19 positive. Sajid–Wajid duo comes from a celebrated family of the music world. He was an Indian Bollywood Hindi film music director duo consisting of brothers Sajid Khan and Wajid Khan, the sons of Ustad Sharafat Ali Khan, a famous tabla player.

Taking to micro-blogging site Twitter, the fraternity from the industry condoled Wajid’s death and said he was an ever-smiling talented man. Salman Khan is the person who had introduced him in the Hindi film industry twitted by saying, “Wajid Vil always love, respect, remember n miss u as a person n ur talent, Love u n may your beautiful soul rest in peace …”

Amitabh Bachchan said, “Shocked at the passing of Wajid Khan .. a bright smiling talent passes away .. duas, prayers and in condolence.”

Adnan Sami said, “I’m shocked!! I’ve lost a dear brother Wajid! I can’t come to grips with this tragic news… He was such a beautiful soul…Oh dear Lord, Please have mercy…”

Karan Johar said, “#RIPWajidKhan your music will always live on…deepest condolences to the family and loved ones ….gone too soon.”

Akshay Kumar said, “Shocked and saddened to hear about the untimely demise of #WajidKhan, talented and ever-smiling…gone too soon. May God give strength to his family in this difficult time.” Randeep Hooda said, “Such a good, kind man #WajidKhan Rest in peace brother.”

Anupam Kher said, “Deeply shocked & saddened by the untimely demise of greatly talented #WajidKhan of the #SajidWajid team. I had met him a few occasions. He was very humble, courteous and always smiling. May God give his family the courage to deal with this loss. Will pray to almighty.”

Priyanka Chopra said, “Terrible news. The one thing I will always remember is Wajid bhai’s laugh. Always smiling. Gone too soon. My condolences to his family and everyone grieving. Rest in peace, my friend. You are in my thoughts and prayers.”

Always smiling. Always singing. All heart. Every music session with him was memorable. You will truly be missed wajid bhai.”

Preity Zinta said, “I used to call him my brother from another mother. Besides being unbelievably talented he was so gentle & sweet. I’m so heartbroken that I did not get to say Goodbye my sweet @wajidkhan7 I will miss you & our jam sessions forever. Till we meet again.”

Palak Muchhal said, “Deeply saddened to hear about the passing of #WajidKhan sir, who had been an integral part of my journey since the very beginning! Rest in peace.”

Sajid–Wajid first scored music for  Salman Khan’s Pyar Kiya To Darna Kya in 1998. In 1999, they scored music for Sonu Nigam’s album Deewaana. They composed music for several films further. The music duo has also composed music for several films starring Salman Khan. They were mentors on the reality shows Sa Re Ga Ma Pa Singing SuperstarSa Re Ga Ma Pa 2012 and composed title track for television reality shows Bigg Boss 4 and Bigg Boss 6, Sajid–Wajid had also composed IPL 4 theme song “Dhoom Dhoom Dhoom Dhadaka”, with Wajid singing the title track.
