Kabul: At least 16 people were killed and 90 others injured in a massive bomb blast outside the provincial police office on Sunday in Feroz Koah, the capital of Afghanistan’s West Ghor province.
Provincial Health Directorate official Abdul Latif Rahimi said that casualties in the incident would be revealed by late evening. He said that the work of evacuating casualties from the debris is going on, so their number may also change.
He said that the condition of many of the injured is critical. A security official said the incident took place at 11:15 AM local time when a minibus laden with explosives blew up in the area where several government offices including the provincial police headquarters are present.
He said that this is a suicide bombing incident. The explosion not only caused a huge loss of life and property but also caused panic on a large scale. Security forces have laid siege to the surrounding areas. So far, no terrorist organisation has claimed responsibility for the incident.
