Oli phones Modi: congratulates 74th Independence Day

Prime Minister Modi said that the neighboring countries are partners in India’s security, development and trust and India wants to strengthen centuries-old relations with its neighbors

New Delhi: Nepali Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli telephoned Prime Minister Narendra Modi this afternoon to congratulate the 74th Independence Day, as part of an effort to clear the tussle between India and Nepal over a few months over the map.

According to the Ministry of External Affairs, Mr. Oli also congratulated Prime Minister, Mr. Modi, on being elected a temporary member of the UN Security Council.

According to the Foreign Ministry, the two leaders supported and expressed solidarity with each other’s efforts to minimize the ill effects of the Covid 19 epidemic. In this regard, Mr. Modi offered Nepal to continue all possible assistance from India.

Mr. Modi thanked Mr. Oli for the telephone and recalled the shared cultural and civilizational contact between India and Nepal.

The Nepalese Prime Minister also took on Twitter and congratulated his counterpart and Indian people on Independence Day. He wrote, “Congratulations and greetings to Prime Minister Shri @narendramodi ji, the Government and people of India on the happy occasion of the 74th Independence Day. Best wishes for more progress and prosperity of the people of India.”

Earlier, while addressing the 74th Independence Day celebrations, Prime Minister Modi today told in the Red Fort that the neighboring countries are partners in India’s security, development and trust and India wants to deepen centuries-old relations with its neighbors.
