Global economy still faces difficulties due to Covid-19 outbreak: IMF chief
Second major global wave of the Coronavirus epidemic may cause more disruptions. The Covid-19 epidemic is feared to increase poverty and inequality.
Washington: The head of the International Monetary Fund, Kristalina Georgieva, has said that the global economy has improved somewhat, but is still facing difficulties. Therefore, all countries should continue to provide finacial aid to their people.
In a message to the G-20 Finance Ministers, IMF Chief Cristalina Georgieva said in a message to the G20 Finance Ministers that the second major global wave of Coronavirus could cause more disruptions. She said that the fear of poverty is increasing due to Coronavirus epidemic.
Ms Krstalina said that all countries should continue to provide financial assistance to people, workers, and labourers. She said that some countries lost more jobs in March and April this year than at the end of the 2008 global financial crisis. Most of these jobs will never be reinstated.
