Petrol and diesel excise duty increased by Rs. 10 and 13 respectively from today
New Delhi: The central government has increased excise duty on petrol by Rs 10 and diesel by Rs 13 per litre. The Modi government made this announcement on Tuesday late night. The decision will come into effect from today (Wednesday).
However, the raising excise duty on both fuels will not affect on petrol and diesel prices. Crude oil prices are at historic low due to declining demand from oil-producing countries due to the global epidemic.
At present, the excise duty on petrol in the country is Rs 22.98 per litre while the excise duty on diesel is Rs 18.83 per litre.
