Alumni Association of JNU organizes Webinar on ‘Self-Reliant India

“No country is considered powerful or significant if it does not rely on its own resources. Self-reliance will help India on global front” says Webinar Chief Guest Gen. V. K. Singh

New Delhi: A webinar series on ‘Self-Reliant India (SRI): Aspirations and Opportunities,’ was organised on Sunday by the Alumni Association of Jawaharlal Nehru University (AAJ). Three and half an hour long webinar was attended by bureaucrats, academicians, policymakers, authorities from health and industry sectors and other speakers from different walks of life.

The webinar was also attended by the Union Minister of State for Road Transport and Highways, Gen. V. K. Singh as chief guest. While attending the webinar, General Singh said that no country is significant, if it does not rely on its own resources. He said that taking India forward in the battle against COVID-19 and Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision to make the country self-reliant is important and need of the time.

He said, ”No country is considered powerful or significant if it does not rely on its own resources.” Mr. Singh said that the country needs to be self-reliant in times of difficulty, which would make it more powerful. ”Time has come for India to make its mark. Time has come for India to be at the forefront. Self-reliance will get us there”, he added.

Vice-Chancellor of Jawaharlal Nehru University Prof M Jagadesh Kumar, Rector Prof Rana P Singh also attended the webinar and expressed their views.

Atal Innovation Mission Additional Secretary and Mission Director R Ramanan, Founder and Director-General of BRICS Chamber of Commerce and Industry Dr. BBL Madhukar, Joint Secretary Ministry for Forest, Environment and Climate Change Dr. Surjit Bajpayee, Senior Scientist, ICMR Dr. Nivedita Gupta, Senior Director of Quality Council of India Mr. AK Jha also participated in the virtual event.

IAS officers Dr. Arun K Panda, Dr. Mrinalini Darswal, and Upendra Tripathy were also among the key participants in the webinar. The Association President Mr. Rajesh Kumar, General Secretary Dr. Dhiraj Kumar Singh, Dr. Maheep and other members played active roles in organising the online event and make it successful.
