Covid-19 vaccine not expected for children this year’
Masco: Alexander Ginsberg, head of Gamaleya Research Institute of Epidemiology and Microbiology which is claiming to develop the world’s first Covid vaccine soon, has said that the coronavirus (Covid -19) vaccine for children is not expected this year.
Mr. Ginsberg has said that this vaccine is currently being tested in Russia only on adult individuals. He said, ‘I sincerely hope that this vaccine will be beneficial for children as well, but according to Russian law, this vaccine can be tested on children only after the completion of the cycle of trials on adult individuals.’
He said, ‘It is too early to say that this vaccine will be used on children.’ Children are not in Covid’s risk group.
Currently, the third phase of this vaccine is being tested on people over 18 years of age. At the same time, Vadim Tarasov, director of The Institute for Translational Medicine and Biotechnology, said that before testing this vaccine on children, it will be tested on young animals, and only then it will be decided to test the vaccine on children.
