Kejriwal on precautionary self isolation; unethical remarks from netizens

New Delhi: The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Sanjay Singh said on Monday that Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal isolated himself at his residence after showing symptoms of fever and throat soring. The Chief Minister will undergo a COVID-19 test on Tuesday.

Taking to Twitter, Mr. Singh said:

‘Chief Minister of Delhi @ArvindKejriwal ji is down with fever and sore throat since yesterday (June 7) afternoon. He has taken himself to home isolation on doctors’ advice. He will have a coronavirus test tomorrow, on June 9.  I pray to God for his quick recovery.”

Meanwhile, prayers started pouring in for his fast recovery. Delhi Commission for Women (DCW) chief Swati Maliwal tweeted, “Despite being severely diabetic, our CM @arvindkejriwal ji has led the corona battle from the front and has been constantly on the ground. Really hope & pray that his corona report is negative and he remains fit & healthy! His leadership is indispensable.”

On this Tweet, some netizens took to the microblogging site tweeter with some sharp reactions and questioned the timing of his sickness. The netizens expressed anguish on the expected deaths of those deprived of treatments.

One twitterite has even gone on to say if he can be treated in Delhi’s government hospital as he comes from Koshambi, Haryana.

Such reactions are coming due to his recent announcement on Delhi’s government hospital to be opened only for Delhiites. On Sunday, the chief minister attended a digital press conference in which he announced the Delhi government’s decision to make all Delhi government and private hospitals exclusive for residents of the capital, during the corona epidemic.

Messages from other parties have also poured in from other party leaders. The newly appointed Delhi BJP chief Adesh Kumar Gupta has also expressed his grief over CM’s ill-health. He took on the twitter and said, “On getting information about Chief Minister @ArvindKejriwal Ji’s illness, I just called him and asked for his well-being. I pray to God that he gets well soon.”

AICC (All India Congress Committee) national spokesperson Sharmistha Mukherjee said, “Hope the test will come out negative. Wish @ArvindKejriwal Ji a speedy recovery.” The Delhi chief minister has also canceled all his meetings scheduled since Sunday afternoon.
