61871 new Covid cases in India, 3.96 crore cases worldwide

In 24 hours, 61871 new cases of Coronavirus have been reported in India, bringing the total number of cases to 74.94 lakh. Covid-19 has infected more than 3.96 crore people worldwide and has taken more than 11.09 million lives

New Delhi: India’s COVID-19 tally increased on Sunday to 74,94,552 after a spike of 61,871 cases in the past 24 hours, the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare said, as the nation hurtled towards a crucial state election.

According to the daily update, as many as 72,614 coronavirus patients were cured/discharged during the time-frame, taking to 65,97,209 the total number of recoveries. With 1,033 COVID fatalities in the past day, the death toll, too, has spiked to 1,14,031, so far in the country.

The active caseload has further gone down by 11,776 since Saturday and is at 7,83,311 at present. In terms of percentage, the active cases are 10.45 percent. The recovery rate stands at 88.03 percent, while the death rate is at 1.52 percent.

According to the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR), as many as 9,70,173 samples were tested in the past 24 hours, taking to 9,42,24,190 the total cumulative samples tested since the onset of the pandemic.

In 24 hours, 61871 new cases of Coronavirus have been reported in India, bringing the total number of Corona cases to 74.94 lakh. Covid-19 has infected more than 3.96 crore people worldwide and has taken more than 11.09 million lives.

Maharashtra is the worst affected state in infection count as well as active cases. Globally, the United States continues to remain the most-infected, followed by India and Brazil.
