7 migrant workers killed, 12 injured in road accident in Bihar

Bhagalpur: At least 7 migrant workers were killed and 12 injured in a road accident in Bihar. The incident occurred today in a horrific collision between a truck and a bus on the National Highway-31 near Ambo Mor in Kharik police station area of Bhagalpur district of Bihar.

Mukesh Kumar, Circle Officer of Naugachia, said that the migrant workers on the truck were going on their way to Khagaria. A bus hit the truck and collided with that badly near Ambo Mor. After the accident, the truck overturned and fell into a roadside ditch.

Mr. Kumar said the workers on the bus were going from Darbhanga to Banka. Twelve workers aboard on the bus were injured. They have been admitted to Nogachhia Hospital. He said that once the accident was reported, the administration and police department officers were rushed to the spot and started the rescue work. Rescue works are still going on.

He said that the workers died due to being crushed by a thick iron rod loaded in the truck. The bodies of seven of the dead people have been taken out. Other bodies are being exhumed with the help of a crane.
