Anantnag: Armed clash in Anantnag, 3 terrorists killed
Three terrorists were killed in an armed encounter in Anantnag. One AK rifle and two pistols were recovered from the spot. A joint search operation is currently underway. With this, the number of terrorists killed so far this year has risen to 116.
Srinagar: Three terrorists were killed in an armed clash on Sunday and Monday night in Anantnag district of South Kashmir. A spokesman of the Jammu and Kashmir Police said that the armed clash that began late Sunday in Chauhar Ranipura of Anantnag district. It ended with the death of three terrorists. He further said that the identity of the slain terrorists is being ascertained while a search operation is on in the area.
A spokesman for the 15th Army corps in Srinagar said that one AK rifle and two pistols were recovered from the spot. He further said that a joint search operation is going on.
Official sources said that Anantnag Police, Army 19 RR and CRPF conducted a search operation by cordoning off the area late last night after receiving information about the presence of terrorists in Chauhar Ranipura in Anantnag district.
He said that as a team of security forces began to siege a suspicious location, the terrorists present there opened fire on the security personnel.
He further said that after the counter-firing of the security forces, a formal skirmish took place between the two sides in which three terrorists were killed.
According to official figures, the number of terrorists killed so far this year has risen to 116, with three more terrorists killed. These include six operational commanders of various terrorist organizations.
