Calicut air crash: District Magistrate confirms 18 killed, others injured
The plane of Air India Express coming from Dubai crashed into two pieces after landing from runway 10 at Calicut International Airport. The aircraft carried 174 passengers, 10 infants, two pilots and 5 crew members.
Malappuram: District Magistrate Gopal Krishnan of Malapuram in Kerala on Saturday confirmed 18 people were killed and several others injured in a plane crash on Calicut International Airport runway.
Mr. Gopal Krishnan said that all the injured have been admitted to various hospitals in Malapuram and Calicut and every possible effort is being made to better treat them. Air India plane from Dubai crashed on Friday night in Calicut, Kerala.
The Directorate General of Civil Aviation said that the Air India Express coming from Dubai crashed into two pieces after landing at 19:41 pm at the airport after landing from runway 10 of the airport. He said the aircraft had 174 passengers, 10 infants, two pilots and five crew members.
The National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) team is busy with relief and rescue operations in collaboration with local people and police.
