Dalit woman was gangraped in Madhya Pradesh, who rushed to the police station after the incident, but her complaint was not taken and she committed suicide.
Narsinghpur: A woman has been gang-raped in in Richhai village of Gadarwara tehsil of Narsinghpur district of Madhya Pradesh, who rushed to the police station after the incident, but her complaint was not taken and she committed suicide.
Apart from arresting five accused in the case, action has also been taken against police officers. According to police sources, on September 28, Arvind, Motilal, Anil, Protosum and a woman Leela Bai were arrested in the case of gangrape. Action has also been taken against the accused under the Scheduled Castes and Tribes Atrocities Act.
Sources said a case has also been registered against Misri Lal Kopre, in-charge of Gotti Toria police station. The victim’s village, Richai, comes under the Gotti Toria police station. The woman reached the police post after the incident, but her complaint was not heard. She then committed suicide.
After the matter got heated up late in the evening, Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chauhan directed for strict action against all the accused. As a result, a case was registered against the police station in-charge, Additional Superintendent of Police Rajesh Tiwari and Godhra sub-divisional police officer (SDOP) Sitaram Yadav. They were removed with immediate effect last night.
It is said that after this incident, the victim also went to the Chechali police station, but her complaint was not heard there either. After her neighbors’ abusive interfernece, she committed suicide. Only after that the case got heated up and then action was taken against the accused.
