Dr. Zafarul Islam did not delete the tweet, stood by his idea
Delhi Minority Commission Chairman Dr. Zafarul Islam Khan has not deleted the tweet and stands by his idea. The reason for his apology was that the Tweet came at a time when the country was facing a medical emergency which made the Tweet inappropriate.
New Delhi: Delhi Minority Commission Chairman Dr. Zafarul Islam has said that he has not personally apologized for the tweet. He has not deleted this tweet and he stands by his thoughts and ideas.
Mr. Zafarul Islam Khan issued an explanatory statement on May 3, 2020 via a tweet, saying that a section of the media has misinterpreted that he has apologized for his April 28 tweet and deleted it from hid Twitter handle. He said that he personally did not apologize for the tweet, nor did he delete it.

He said that he had apologized not for the tweet but for the tweet at a time when the country was facing a medical emergency which made the tweet inappropriate and insensitive due to the present circumstances. That tweet is still on his Twitter handle and Facebook page. Moreover, he made it clear in his explanatory statement on May 1, 2020 that he stands by his thoughts and ideas.
He said that he will continue to fight against the politics of hatred in the country now and in the future. He went on saying that FIRs, arrests, and imprisonments do not change the way took the country and the people of India. He said that he had consciously chosen to save the secular system and the constitution years ago.
