Kanpur shelter home: Case of Covid positive girls taken to Apex Court
New Delhi: The case of 57 girls found Covid-19 positive in a shelter home of Kanpur, Uttar Pradesh was taken to the Supreme Court today. The petitioner has requested to provide proper medical care to these infected girls.
Five of those infected girls are said to be pregnant, while one is HIV-positive. The court has allowed them to file petition.
A few days ago, the court took cognizance of the children’s covid being infected in the shelter homes in Tamil Nadu and issued a notice to the state government. The petitioner moved the apex court after seeing media reports regarding 57 minor girls being found corona positive in the girl child house in Kanpur.
The petitioner has also demanded better treatment facilities for the various shelter homes for girls in the country including Kanpur.
It has been sought in the petition to provide better facilities to prevent the spread of infection of COVID 19 in child care centers. The petition also demanded strict adherence to the guidelines of the court.
