Protestors against agriculture bill set a tractor fire near India Gate
Chanting slogans of ‘Jai Jawan Jai Kisan’ protesters loaded an old tractor into a vehicle, landed near India Gate and set it on fire.
New Delhi: Protesters against the agriculture bill set a tractor on fire near the India Gate here on Monday morning. They were protesting against the agriculture bill.
According to a police officer, around 15 to 20 people gathered near India Gate. Meanwhile, people protested and raised slogans and set fire to a tractor, which was immediately brought under control. The tractor was also removed from the spot. People involved in this incident are being identified.
The protesters loaded an old tractor into a vehicle and landed near India Gate and set it on fire. Meanwhile, protesters chanted “Jai Jawan Jai Kisan”. They also raised slogans in support of the top leadership of the Congress.
Significantly, amid protests from farmers and opposition parties in most parts of the country, President Ram Nath Kavand on Sunday approved bills related to agrarian reform.
With the President’s signature, the Agricultural Reforms Act – ‘Agricultural Produce Business and Trade (Promotion and Facilities) Act 2020’ and ‘Farmers (Empowerment and Protection) Price Insurance and Agricultural Services Agreement Act 2020’ came into force in the country.
