Haj Committee lucky draw: those missing this year to be prioritised for next?
Haj Committee lucky draw is conducted to select the applicants for haj pilgrimage. As this year people will not be able to perform haj due to the COVID-19 outbreak, it is demanded that those selected this year should be allowed for next year haj without any other draw.
Mumbai: Former Maharashtra state minister and Congress vice-president Mohammed Arif Naseem Khan have demanded that the lucky pilgrims who were selected for Haj this year by a lucky draw should get the opportunity to perform Haj next year without any further draw. Mr. Khan said that such names should be given the opportunity and they should be given priority in this matter.
Naseem Khan made the demand in response to a circular issued by the Haj Committee of India late last night. The circular states that Indian pilgrims will not be able to perform Hajj this year due to the coronavirus outbreak. Circular also stated that the Central Haj Committee is ready to return the money deposited by the applicants of pilgrimage.
The former minister said that the selection of these pilgrims was done through a draw. Therefore, the names of the pilgrims would be included in the list to be prepared for next year. They should be given the opportunity to perform Hajj on a priority basis.
