Significant effect of weekly complete lockdown observed in West Bengal
The complete lockdown in West Bengal had its full effect. Markets, factories and shops remained closed. Public transport was also not in service. Similar lockdowns are scheduled for July 25 and July 29.
Calcutta: The first day of lockdown of two days a week to control the transmission of the coronavirus had a good effect across the state of West Bengal on Wednesday. All businesses and markets remained completely closed.
According to government sources, this lockdown has a full effect across the state. Markets, factories, shops and public transport is closed. Similar lockdowns are also scheduled for July 25 and July 29.
The West Bengal government has decided to implement a lockdown twice a week to prevent community transmission of covid-19 on the advice of doctors and experts.
Special police teams are patrolling in various areas amidst the lockdown. Special monitoring is being carried out for the containment zones where there is a complete lockdown till 31 July. Brigades have been set up at various places to prevent people from this area from leaving their homes or entering from outside.
Public and private transport is completely closed during weekly lockdowns. Only emergency services are open. At present, there are 930 containment zones in West Bengal.
In West Bengal, 1221 people have died so far due to Coronavirus. On the previous day alone, as many as 39 peole have lost their lives. The number of covid patients has crossed 50 thousand.
