Sonia Gandhi slams government for enacting “anti-farmer laws”
Sonia Gandhi says ‘farmers will emerge victorious in their struggle against the farm sector bills’
New Delhi: The Congress President Mrs Sonia Gandhi on Friday attacked Centre over the farm sector laws and said that the government brought these farm laws without consulting anyone. Mrs Gandhi said this on the occasion of birth anniversary of Father of the Nation Mahatma Gandhi
She released a video message on the birth anniversaries of Mahatma Gandhi and Lal Bahadur Shastri. The Congress President said in her video message that the farmers did extraordinary service to the country in the situation of a pandemic like Covid-19. It is farmers’ hard work that has made possible to provide food grains free of cost in the country. However, by enacting three anti-farmer laws, the government has done injustice to the farmers of the country.
Attacking the government, she said that due to the ‘anti-farmer policies of this government’, today the farmers and farm labourers of the country are agitating on the streets against all three farm laws.
She said the farmers were not even consulted before framing of the laws that the government made for the farmers. The Congress president alleged, ‘Ignoring the interests of the farmers, Prime Minister Narendra Modi enacted three anti-farmer laws only by consulting a few friends.’
Jai Jawan, Jai Kisan
“Today is the birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi, the greatest sympathizer of the farmers and labourers. Today it is also the birth anniversary of our former Prime Minister Lal Bahadur Shastri who gave the slogan ‘Jai Jawan, Jai Kisan’, she said.
She said, “Congress has always made every law with public consent. Congress will continue to fight against the three farm laws,’ she said.
‘However, the farmers and the labourers in the country have taken to the streets against the three black anti farmers legislations. Today, the Modi government is making the farmers of the country cry,’ the Congress president said.
Today, when we are observing the birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi and Lal Bahadur Shastri, farmers are protesting against the three anti-farmer laws. I believe that the agitation by farmers and Congress will be successful and farmers will emerge victorious,’ She added.
Mrs Gandhi expressed confidence that the farmers will emerge successful in their struggle against the farm sector bills. She said the Congress will continue to fight against these laws together with the farmers.
