Special train arrives at Kathgodam at midnight carrying migrant workers trapped in lockdown
Haldwani / Dehradun: A special train carrying 1,200 passengers from Surat, trapped due to COVID-19 lockdown reached at Kathgodam division at 11:30 PM Monday. Uttarakhand government made it possible with its special efforts. All the passengers were received by the Chief Minister and local leaders of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).
The feelings of relief were seen on the faces of many along with tears of happiness in the eyes of some of the passengers returning home. Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Prahlad Singh Meena made the passengers lined up while maintaining social distance.
This special train from Surat has a total of 1200 passengers including 123 from Almora district, 291 from Bhagyashree, 6 from Champawat, 254 from Pithoragarh, 16 from Adham Singh Nagar and 510 from Nainital district.
After checking the health of all passengers, they were sent to different districts of Kumaon by buses at night.
