Stock of AK-47, other sophisticated weapons recovered from Vikas Dubey’s house
Kanpur: Dangerous weapons like AK-47 and other ammunition were used in the killing of eight policemen on July 2 and 3 in Bikru village of Kanpur‘s Chaubepur region in Uttar Pradesh.
Additional Director General of Police (Law and Order) Prashant Kumar told reporters here on Tuesday that during the search of the house of dangerous history-sheeter Vikas Dubey, police also found a stock of AK-47 along with other sophisticated weapons. Other ammunition were recovered from the house of Shashi Kant, an accused of 50 thousand rupees. He was arrested by the police.
Mr. Kumar said that Vikas and his associates had systematically attacked the police team on the night of 2 and 3 July and dangerous weapons were used in the incident. In this attack, the criminals also looted the weapons of the martyred police officers. Mr. Kumar said that four out of the 21 accused named in the case have been arrested so far. Six accused including Vikas Dubey have been killed in a police encounter. Other people are expected to be caught soon.
The police officer said that the investigation also revealed that Vikas Dubey had asked gang members to hide weapons and ammunition in their homes looted from police officers.
