Vikas Dubey encounter: Vikas Dubey killed in police encounter on way to Kanpur
Vikas Dubey was being brought to Kanpur by road. A police vehicle overturned in Bara area. Vikas Dubey tried to escape and the police team opened fire. The seriously injured Dubey was admitted to a private hospital where he was declared dead.
Kanpur: The Special Task Force (STF) of Police has killed Vikas Dubey, the main accused of killing 8 policemen, in Bara area of Kanpur, Uttar Pradesh
Police sources said that a police vehicle coming from Ujjain to Kanpur on Kanpur Bhonti Road in Bara area overturned. Vikas, who was escaping from the accident, died after being shot by the police.
Sources said that Vikas was arrested in Ujjain, Madhya Pradesh on Thursday and was being taken to Kanpur by road by taking police custody. He was to be produced in court at 10 am. Everything was fine till the Sanchi area, but a police vehicle overturned in Bara area.
Vikas tried to run away as the vehicle overturned, but the police team opened fire. The seriously injured historyheater was admitted to a private hospital where he was declared brought dead.
It is to be noted that on the night of 2 July, Vikas and his operatives shot and killed 8 police officers in Bakro village of Chaubepur in Kanpur. The police have so far arrested 5 of Vikas’s associates. Vikas was arrested in a dramatic way from the Mahakaleshwar Temple in Ujjain yesterday. The police team went to Ujjain to pick him up from the chartered plane, but was decided to take him by road.
