Google extends ‘work from home’ for 2 lakh employees till July next year
Google has extended the period of work from home for its 2 lakh employees till July next year. Email sent to the employees states that due to Covid-19, the policy of working from home is being extended till June 30, 2021.
Zurich: The popular Search engine Google has instructed its employees to work from home by July next year, expanding their policy of work order from home.
Company chief executive Sundar Pichai has sent an email to the employees. In the email, he wrote ‘We are extending the policy of working from home due to Covid-19 till June 30, 2021. Under this policy, employees will not be required to come to the office.’
According to the Wall Street Journal, 2 lakh Googles employees and contractors worldwide will work from home.
A huge number of IT professionals across the globe had already adopted the pattern of remote working. The size of this workforce is considered to be large in the information technology (IT) and BPO sectors. The ‘work from home’ model has helped services keep going all through the lockdown across the world.
A large number of employees working in private companies had started dedicating a considerable number of hours to their work performed remotely. Governments of various countries have also issued similar orders.
It is considered that the work from home culture shall also bring various benefits to the work culture. It shall inspire more women to get into the job market. As travelling has always been a big issue for women almost everywhere in the world particularly in odd hours, this mode of work is said to encourage more people to join the workforce.
