BJP SC-ST Morcha stages protest at Kejriwal’s residence
Protesters demanded immediate compensation of Rs 1 crore each to the family members killed in an incident and 50 lakh compensation to those injured
New Delhi: BJP SC-ST Morcha of Delhi staged a protest at the residence of Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal for the compensation of the death of two people. Two people died recently and one injured while cleaning of septic tank in Moradband of Badarpur Assembly constituency. Protestors have also demanded the Chief Minister to resign taking moral responsibility for the incident.
The protesters have also given a memorandum demanding immediate compensation of Rs one crore to the families of those killed and Rs 50 lakh to the injured.
Addressing the protesters, Leader of Opposition in Delhi Assembly Bidhuri said that the Kejriwal government was fully responsible for the two casualties during the septic tank cleanup.
Prior to the Delhi Assembly elections last year, Mr. Kejriwal had announced in a press conference about a ‘Chief Minister Septic Tank Cleaning Scheme’. A mobile number was also released for this purpose.
He had said that the Delhi government would clean the septic tanks machine free of cost in all unauthorized colonies. For this, the information was also shared about the deployment of 80 trucks initially and claimed to benefit 45 lakh people from this scheme. Mr. Bhiduri said, ‘the truth is that after getting power in Delhi, they considered it unnecessary to implement the scheme. Had been implemented, this incident would not have happened today.’
