5 dead, 6 missing in Vietnam floods, 33k houses submerged
As many as 33 thousand houses have been affected by floods in Central Vietnam. At least 5 people died and 6 others went missing
Hanoi: At least five people died and six went missing after heavy rains hit the central and northern region of Vietnam. The VNA Dialogue Committee quoted the officials on Saturday.
According to the Central Committee for Disaster Management and Prevention, two people died in the northern province of Lao Cai, 2 in the central district and one in Central Quang Tri province.
The local administration has so far evacuated 1600 families from the Dakrong and Huang Hoa hill districts of Quang Tri. Meanwhile, authorities have also filed reports of six others missing due to floods.
Significantly, a total of 33 thousand houses have been submerged by the floods in the central areas of Vietnam, of which 13 in Quang Binh province Thousands, about 18 thousand in Quang Tri Province and 2 thousand houses in Thua Thien Hue have been badly affected.
