Nigerian army kill 392 gunmen in a massive operation
Abuja: The Nigerian military has said it has killed 392 gunmen in a major operation over several days. Dealing with bandits and other criminal activities in the North West and North Central regions had become a major challenge.
Army spokesperson John Aniche told the media Thursday that the army conducted a joint operation with police in the northwestern province of Katsina On May 14. The operation aimed at eliminating the threat of bandits and other criminals in the northern part of the country.
During the operation, security forces killed hundreds of gunmen in both areas. On June 1, security forces cleansed the remaining gunmen.
According to an army spokesperson, “dealing with bandits and other criminal activities in the north-west and north-central parts of the country has become a major challenge. Numerous targets were identified and the gunmen were eliminated by ground and airstrikes.
