US should suspend Import duty for 90 days in view of COVID-19: Neal
Washington – United States House Speaker Richard Edmund Neal has said that the country needs to suspend import duty for 90 days to combat with the coronavirus. Mr. Neal said on Monday evening in a statement that the Trump administration should suspend all taxes on products marked by emergency officials for the next 90 days. Emergency officials include their current officers.
This exemption should be applicable for the next 90 days, which is suitable for public health crisis due to COVID-19. The recommendation is based on a report by the US International Trade Commission on Medical Imports.
He urged the Trump administration to take necessary steps to increase the domestic production of these goods as a measure of support.
