Riyadh: The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has announced that only those living in Saudi Arabia will be allowed to perform Haj this year in order to stop the spread of the coronavirus (Covid-19).

According to a report by Saudi Arabia’s government news agency, only people living in Saudi Arabia will be able to perform Haj this year.

The Saudi government says that it has been decided to limit the number of Haj pilgrims during the Haj period this year due to the Coronavirus outbreak.

Foreigners living in Saudi Arabia are also allowed to perform Haj

According to a statement released on Twitter by al-Harmain on the social website, “The government has decided to allow citizens of various countries living in Saudi Arabia to perform Haj.”

A detailed statement issued by the Ministry stated that the decision has been taken in view of the risk of crowds causing the spread of coronavirus.

The statement has said that the citizens of various countries living in Saudi Arabia will be able to perform Haj and the decision has been taken to arrange a safe performance of Haj.

The government said that the decision has been taken to ensure social distancing and all other necessary measures as per Islamic teachings to save the lives of the people in view of the risks of public health.
