Trump approves deployment of troops in Saudi Arabia
Washington, September 21 (Agencies) – US President Donald Trump has approved the decision to deploy additional military forces in Saudi Arabia following an attack on Saudi Arabia’s oil plants.
Secretary of Defence Mark Esper told reporters Friday that after the September 14 attack on Saudi Arabia’s oil plant Aramco, Mr Trump deployed troops and necessary weapons to prevent any attack on Saudi oil installations.
US Joint Chiefs of Staff Gen. Joseph Dunford, however, said that Defence Department has not yet decided on the deployment of security forces, and Mr Esper will be briefed on the matter soon. “The number of security forces will not be in the thousands”, he said.
